The site is dedicated to my daughter Hana
Scordato (a.k.a Hana Kataoka) who is a victim of Premeditated International
Child abduction, a growing epidemic amongst US families. Hana is now 3
years old and was abducted at only 16 months of age. (the picture to the
right was taken Nov.
2006 and was attained via a family member). Hana was born, October 4,
2004 at St. Josephs Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. Rumi (Lumi) Kataoka, wife
of 5 years (engaged and married in US 2001) Hana's mother, scheduled a trip
in Dec 05 from the US to visit family in Japan which was a routine semi
annual trip with Hana. Rumi has a history of
alcohol use and minor depression and suffered severely from Post Pardum following
the birth of Hana.
Part of the reason for her trip was to see a family doctor who she felt
could truly help her. She has failed to return and has held Hana
since that time without contact. Rumi, Hana and her immediate family
reside in Kani City, Gifu, Japan. Upon learning of her intentions to
stay it was seen all of Hana's files and documents were removed and Lumi
left just enough personal belongings as to not cause suspicion. Lumi is in
possession of Hana's passport, and birth records. Rumi and her family have deprived Hana of her father and fathers family without reason or contact for two years. The abduction has driven a wedge through family members here and the emotional distress was a main factor in the closing of a successful business which was relied upon for income. The damage the Kataoka's have caused and continue to cause our family and to Hana is immeasurable. Everything we worked for and cared about..My family, my business which provided for us, our home, a beautiful baby girl and the promise of a great future was destroyed by this abduction. After a year of intense emotional grieving, I was able to take measures not to lose my home and seek gainful employment. When they say their is nothing worse than losing a child, it is true. The pain never goes away. Your support is appreciated as a fund needs to be established to help Hana and my family. I would ideally like to continue to help other children and families who are victims of this.

| Primary Abductor; Rumi Kataoka may also now have long hair. She is 5'5 96lbs and resides in Kani City, Gifu Japan. She typically worked in Television and general office work and is also a high level pianist. | ||
Since Japan refuses to participate in the Hague treaty which would allow US authorities to enforce a return directive, Rumi has remained in Japan without consequence. In short, Japan condones abduction of children who are born US citizens. Despite a sole custody order in place by me and an active bench warrant for Rumi, Japan has failed to respect my family or the US and its laws. This includes numerous calls to the Japanese Embassy and Consolate in which I was mocked and told nothing would be done.
Currently Hana is classified as Endangered Missing with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the FBI and NJ State Police. Both Rumi and Hana are in NCIC. Two years of trying to work with the FBI, State Dept and NCMEC has yielded little results. Japan sees that the child is with the mother so there is no problem and refuses to cooperate.

Please contact us via e-mail hana.2004@hotmail.com and be sure to contact your local, state representatives and the Japanese Embassy in Washington D.C. to call for much needed legislation and foreign policy regarding these matters. Too many Americans who marry in good faith, start families and work hard are stripped of their parental rights by people who simply decide to not return and even worse are the positions of the foreign governments who are supposed to be allies of the US and share extensive commerce with the US.
Like many issues regarding children, it is the families that suffer, but ultimately it is the children who suffer the most. Taking a child from her family, for reasons nothing more than selfishness and mental illness will cause long term issues for the child. Will Hana grow up thinking I left her or that perhaps I was killed in a car accident when she was a child.
We encourage the Kataoka's to step forward and begin talks to resolve this situation as amicably as possible.
Time has been provided to the Kataoka's to come forward and time was provided for Hana's sake, but the time has come to bring Hana home or she will be brought home by any means necessary.
